Resilient Minds
About the Programme
Supported by Muslim Mind Collaborative and delivered by Chiltern Teaching School Hub, Resilient Minds is a six-session mental health curriculum built directly from student voice.
We recognised that students were carrying heavy loads - from exam stress to fear of failure - but often lacked the language to navigate them. To address this, we didn't just write a curriculum for them; we wrote it with them.
The result is a programme that speaks to the authentic, real-world experiences of young people with intersectional identities. It moves beyond the idea of mental health as just "crisis management" and equips students with practical tools for everyday wellbeing.
The Impact
Piloted at Challney High School for Boys and Challney High School for Girls, the programme has delivered measurable shifts in school culture:
- Redefining mental health - before the programme, students often viewed mental health solely as "illness." After the sessions, the majority defined it as everyday emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. As one student put it: "Mental health is how you think, feel and act."
- Building peer support - the most powerful outcome has been the growth in confidence. Over 90% of female students and nearly 9 in 10 male students now feel more confident supporting a friend who is struggling.
- Creating safety - by validating their experiences, the programme created a safe space for conversations that were previously felt to be taboo.

The Resources
Following our successful pilot, these lesson resources are now available for all schools to use. The curriculum package includes:
- 6 full lesson plans
- Slide-by-slide Teacher Handbooks
- Student Workbooks to accompany the slides
Which version should I use?
We have developed tailored curriculums for girls and boys to address specific gendered pressures. Mixed schools are encouraged to review both versions and select the sessions that best suit your specific cohort's needs.
